Actuator on the up and up

Actuator on the up and up A new form of linear actuator has been developed by Hoerbiger-Origa that provides highly dynamic vertical motion of loads. Based on the belt-drive principle, the OSE-BV is designed so that the carriage is fixed and the cylinder moves – the reverse of the usual configuration. The load is most likely to be positioned at the lower end of the cylinder, although other locations can be easily accommodated. The carriage houses the drive motor, gearbox and drive shaft that form the prime mover of the actuator. It also contains a pair of idler wheels, over which the belt drive passes to engage with the drive shaft. The OSE-BV offers the advantage over conventional actuators of being compact in size and having low dynamic weight.
