Actuators reduce package size and cost
IMS has expanded its MDrive product line with NEMA size 17 linear actuators combining leading all-in-one integrated step motor and driver technology with linear motion to deliver long life, high accuracy and unsurpassed repeatability, all in an extremely compact package measuring 58 x 56 x 43mm and at a low cost. The MDrive17 actuators are available in two shaft styles: non-captive and external. 

With non-captive shafts, a screw extends through the MDrive and moves axially as the motor rotates. With external shafts, a rotating screw integral to the MDrive motor moves a screw-mounted nut axially, with a choice of general purpose or anti-backlash nuts. Precision rolled screws for MDrive17 linear actuators deliver maximum life and quiet operation, and come with a choice of four screw leads to meet a wide range of application demands. Screws are manufactured from premium grade stainless steel, are corrosion resistant and non-magnetic, and available with an optional Teflon coating.

The actuators are available with inte-grated elec-tronics in three versions: microstepping with step and direction input, motion control with intelligent programmable controller, and speed control with velocity controller.
