Atlantic Industrie relies on Interroll's 24V drive technology

Atlantic Industrie relies on Interroll's 24V drive technology

In order to be able to install a new production line for thermodynamic instantaneous water heaters at its site in La Roche Sur Yon, the French company Atlantic Industrie, a leading French company in climate control engineering, was in need of a reliable and robust conveyor system that would also save energy. The company now relies on Interroll's 24V drive technology.

The requirements were clear from the very beginning: to provide buffer storage for instantaneous water heaters while the new line was being installed. Guaranteeing the stability of these devices that can be up to 2 meters in height and weigh nearly 150 kg was particularly important on this line. Furthermore, the conveyor system had to be both energy-efficient and dependable. Mr. Giraudet, a technical expert at Atlantic Industrie, explained that 24V RollerDrive were used to manufacture a prototype that was then used as a test module.

Atlantic Industrie was able to benefit from Interroll's broad product range and innovative solutions. With respect to the drives, they opted for 24V RollerDrive from the EC310 series that really convinced them due to their performance characteristics: pulling force of up to 180 kg per zone (one zone consists of an EC310 RollerDrive and seven slave RollerDrive), whereby 200 zones in total have been installed, its compact design due to the fact that the motor is integrated into the pipe (50 mm in diameter), up to 50 percent energy savings compared to conventional drive technology, running noise of less than 55 dB(A) and a service life of at least 20,000 hours.

Fixed drive conveyor rollers from Interroll's 3500 series that are equipped with PolyVee pinions are being used as slave for RollerDrive. They enable much better torque transmission and therefore better pulling force across the entire unit. A DriveControl module from Interroll that allows for zero pressure conveying, zone by zone, is used to control the system. This means products are only forwarded to the next zone if it is vacant. In other words, the motors only run when they need to and this, in turn, provides the desired energy savings.

The first production line was put into operation in August 2013, the second in January 2014. "We are extremely satisfied with how well it is operating overall," Giraudet concludes.

Thanks to his experience, Interroll is able to offer its customers not only know-how, but also highly innovative products that are state-of-the-art from both a technological and ecological perspective. On the other hand, its customers' experiences enable Interroll to continue further developing its solutions.
