Belt actuator combines accuracy and durability
A new linear belt actuator from Parker Electromechanical and Drives offers a cost-effective solution for applications that demand accurate repeatability, durability and low maintenance.

Called the LCB range, it comes in two sizes of profile section 40mm and 60mm.  They offer 6kg and 30kg typical payloads, maximum strokes of 2.0m and 5.5m and static bearing loads of up to 1,250N and 3,850N respectively. The LCB040 has a maximum thrust of 160N and the LCB060 560N. Both have speeds up to 8m/s, accelerations of 20m/s2 and repeatable accuracy of +/-0.2mm. LCB actuators are supplied as complete assemblies with standard mechanical interfaces, including mountings for stepper and servo motors, gearboxes. This drive option flexibility enables the LCB to be configured easily according to speed performance and accuracy required.

Because the actuator is of a self-supporting design, complete with integral guides, the number of components is minimised which results in high reliability, low maintenance plus extended service life. The 'minimal' design of the LCB also imparts low inertia, permitting it to achieve high cycle times with 100 percent duty cycle. This efficient mechanical design has also eliminated the need for lubrication of the drive train and the travel guides. All these features are complemented by the LCB's sliding guides. These ensure high-dynamic performance, low noise levels (even at high speed), an operating efficiency greater than 90 percent and low energy consumption.
