Cable entries made simple with Conta-Clip KDSClick

Cable entries made simple with Conta-Clip KDSClick

Connecting pre-formed cables, pipes and hoses into cabinets and enclosures can be a time-consuming exercise. Conventional solutions are also far from flexible, and there is often the risk of compromising the sealing or not providing adequate strain relief.

The alternative from OEM Automatic is Conta-Clip’s KDSClick – an IP66 cable entry system that saves time and ensures maximum versatility. Suitable for both pre-assembled and non-assembled cables – with or without connectors – it offers a simple, modular design, that fits into industry standard cut-outs, and offers 84 different sealing inserts.

The unique system comprises of only three basic components, frames, inlays and sealing inserts, and the modular design of these three basic components enables them to be combined in different ways, guaranteeing maximum versatility, variability and variety. And because there is no need to disassemble and reconnect connectors, the manufacturer’s warranty on pre-assembled cables is not voided.

Unlike conventional systems that have a split frame that needs to be assembled with the cables before mounting, Conta-Clip’s new solution is based on a robust but lightweight single unit frame that can be pre-mounted. The frame is made from a single mould, and is quick and easy to assemble. It is made of sturdy, glass-fibre rein-forced plastic. The foamed seal guarantees an optimal seal with IP66 protection, even on painted or rough surfaces.

The click-in inlays allow for a requirements-based dimensioning of the frame opening for the seal being used, so you can flexibly configure cable entries or various re-quirements, for example for cables, lines, tub-ing, pneumatic hoses and hydraulic lines. An audible ‘click’ confirms correct installation.

The seal’s tapered shape allows it to be easily pressed in; it reliably seals the gaps and provides strain relief working towards accordance with DIN EN 62444. The seals are installed by pressing them from the inside outwards into the openings of the previously installed inlays. Their wave-cut profile makes them easy to install and ensures a perfect fit around the cables. There are currently 84 different seals that can be used for sealing cables of various diameters and sizes.

The inside-outwards assembly facilitates easier servicing work or changes if requirements change. The seals can be removed by pressing from the outside inwards, so changes, retrofits, service work or the readjustment of cable lengths can be made when needed without removing the frame. An optional inner locking frame can be used to prevent the possibility of unwanted external manipulation.

For metric break-outs, Conta-Clip provides separable cable glands from M20 to M63 for cables with or without connectors. During servicing or retrofitting with pre-assembled cable harnesses, cables with diameters from 2mm to 35mm can quickly and safely be guided into the switchgear cabinet or housing, and then sealed to IP66. The divisible system ensures quick and simple assembly.

KDSClick offers maximum versatility for cable management, and makes high-density assemblies possible. The system is available with 1-way, 2-way and 4-way seals available, so depending on the size of the cable gland up to four seals can be inserted. After that, the two halves of the cable gland are easily snapped together without the use of any tools. The seal is first placed around the cable and then inserted in one of the two halves. A locknut (which can also be separated) on the inside of the cabinet ensures a safe and secure attachment.

Rated for use in temperatures from -40°C to +120°C, the materials used contain no halogen or silicone, making KDSClick suitable for use in a wide range of different applications.
