Can you be sure your machine has stopped?
Dold has launched a new safety standstill back EMF monitor, the Safemaster LH5946. The unit is designed to directly monitor three phase, single phase and inverter driven motors without the need for external transuding elements, by directly looking at the back EMF created by a rotating motor. The unit is simply connected to the output connections of the motor contactor and, via an adjustable voltage setting up to 400mV and an internal adjustable safety timer up to 6sec, gives a safe indication of standstill, thereby allowing electromechanical guard interlocks to be released and operator access to dangerous machinery allowed.
The LH5946 has three NO outputs and one NC output. These are conventional redundant safety contact outputs with LED indication of broken wire detection and motor standstill. There is also one CO contact and two semiconductor outputs for status indication. The unit is TUV approved for safety applications to BS-EN 954-1 Cat 4 and EN 13849-1 to PL e and can be fully integrated with Dold solenoid locking devices and conventional or programmable safety relays.
