Clever connections made easy with tubular framing system
Connecting square and round elements has become a great deal easier thanks to a new tubular framing system from Rexroth.

EcoShape, when used with components from Rexroth's Manual Production Systems (MPS), makes the construction of individual solutions such as workstations, material shuttles, or flow racks quicker and simpler. Easy-to-use EcoShape lets you quickly design new solutions or optimise and extend old ones. Existing assembly lines can be improved and errors avoided through the application of the kaizen or poka-yoke principles.

Based on reusable and recyclable anodised aluminium profiles, EcoShape includes caps and connection elements. For constructions requiring high load-bearing capacities, special adapters for the aluminium profiles from Rexroth's Basic Mechanical Elements (MGE) modular system are also available. And thanks to a connection technology that can compensate for length tolerances, workers can easily set up these aluminium tubes on-site. These connection elements are screwed together, ensuring secure and torsion-proof assembly.

So just a handful of components is all you need to construct your system quickly and inexpensively. Two types of aluminium tubular framing provide your structure with the required stability, while five connectors let you create virtually any imaginable connection between Ecoshape profiles - parallel, perpendicular or any desired angle. All of the connectors establish a positive interlocking connection between the profiles for a secure fit.

Planning and assembly are exceptionally easy because the connection elements easily accommodate minor tolerance differences in the length of the profiles. The result, says Bosch Rexroth, is that it's no problem to cut the profiles to length directly at the work site. Further benefits include an approximate reduction in weight of over 30% compared with similar steel tube systems. And because the elements can all be reused or recycled, you'll be reducing energy consumption and helping to do your bit for the environment. A complete ESD version also ensures safe conductivity of all components in applications where ESD might be an issue.

Combination with Rexroth's MGE aluminium profile system makes it possible to create solutions that meet the highest demands, and you can also use MPS components to extend the function of your EcoShape frames. Designs can be implemented efficiently using Rexroth's special MTpro planning software, which includes a 2D and 3D parts generator.

To test you on what you can do with EcoShape, BoschRexroth has launched the EcoShape Design Award. It's divided into two categories - Classic and Freestyle - and is aimed at the likes of system integrators, production engineers, workstation designers, interior designers, and any others who want to advance their ideas into new dimensions. In addition to some attractive prizes, the winning ideas will be presented to interested experts at the MOTEK trade fair in Stuttgart, Germany. Deadline for submissions to the competition is 30 July.
