Contrinex sees the light

Contrinex sees the light The new Contrinex DIN-rail mounting fibre optic sensors now include blue light sensing options in both ‘digital teach’ and potentiometer versions. Blue light improves the contrast ratio when detecting with diffuse format fibre optic set-ups, especially on dark colours. This improvement aids the detection of printed red colour marks over using a conventional red light fibre optic amplifiers and, in addition, the blue light differentiation between white and yellow and similar coloured items is enhanced. An issue often encountered in automotive sub-assembly applications is that black rubber components are notoriously hard to detect using red light because they absorb nearly all of the light. This is not the case with blue light and by using fine fibre optics, even small features on rubber mouldings and products can be detected. This capability extends the application range of Contrinex fibre optic sensors and the blue light versions can often be used in applications where the only alternative is a significantly more expensive laser sensor.
