Couplings make fluid transfer simple and safe Safe transfer of fluids under pressure is readily achieved with the latest range of Exactor pressure-balanced couplings from Sterling Hydraulics. Suitable for use with a wide range of fluids, including butane, propane and propylene, the couplings operate at pressures up to 20 bar, and have a dual-detent safety feature which guards against accidental uncoupling while under pressure. Exactor couplings comprise two sections. The male fixed section is normally rigidly mounted, while the female section is connected to flexible hose. Coupling is quickly and easily achieved by mating rollers on the hose section with a three-start cam track on the fixed section. The hose section then requires just one full turn to complete and lock the connection. When the coupling is locked, the rollers are securely retained in detents at the end of the cam track. Handles fitted to the female section release the rollers to allow decoupling but, if the coupling is still under pressure, the rollers immediately re-engage in secondary detents, maintaining a safe and secure connection while the pressure is released.
