Encoder for motor drive package

Encoder for motor drive package
The MDrive product line, with its proven integrated motor and driver technology, now offers an optional internal encoder for reliable position monitoring with differential or single ended outputs that is less prone to electrical noise inter-ference, is available with a choice of line counts, and does not increase the MDrive product size.

Offered as an option for MDrive 14, 17 and 23 Microstepping versions with step and direction input, the optional internal magnetic encoder provides reliable, rugged low cost position monitoring that is less prone to interference in harsh environments. Nine line counts are available from 100 to as high as 1000 for applications demanding finer resolutions. All resolutions include an index mark.

According to Max Wietharn, IMS VP of sales and marketing, "While external encoders are also available for these MDrive products, the new internal encoders have the additional benefit of not increasing the product's size. Plus they are less prone to mechanical damage as they are protected inside the metal housing of the MDrive products."

MDrive products achieve high levels of smoothness and performance by applying innovative techniques to control current flow through the motor so resonance is significantly dampened over the entire speed range and audible noise is reduced. Oversized input capacitors minimise power line surges, reducing problems that can occur with long cable runs and multiple drive systems.
