Free evening lecture for the IET - Lasers, Cameras, Action

On 11 December at 6:30pm at New College, Swindon, specialists from Leuze Electronic will be presenting a free evening lecture in association with the IET, entitled 'Lasers, cameras, action - what is hot in industrial sensors'. Presented by Simon Steele and Dhiresh Mistry of Leuze, the lecture is the latest in the IET's series of local network events, and is part of an initiative to promote engineering to young people.

The lecture will describe and then demonstrate how lasers, smart cameras, 3D scanners and optical ASICs are the latest technologies to used to achieve robust and reliable sensing. The talk will describe how these technologies help not just industrial robots build your car, but also the machines which fill your milk bottle, plus the warehouses that ensure your supermarket or online retailer have the stock you want, or even the cranes which help build the aircraft you fly upon. There will also be an opportunity to see how laser sensors, 3D sensing and vision systems with, with everyone encouraged to relive their childhood by planying with a conveyor system built with lego.

The event is free of charge and open to both members of the IET and non-members, and anyone wishing to attend can secure their place on the IET bookings page at The event takes place at New College, New College Drive, Swindon SN3 1AH.
