IMO launches first drives scrappage scheme

IMO launches first drives scrappage scheme
IMO Precision Controls announces a unique initiative that means the latest in variable speed drive technology is now even more affordable.  From January 2010, IMO will operate a Drives Scrappage Scheme - the company's own version of the Government's 'cash for bangers' scheme - which will allow customers to swap new for old at a reduced cost, while ensuring that the scrapped drives will be responsibly disposed of.

An industry first, the initiative will make customers eligible for a discount when they trade-in an existing drive for a new, high performance, variable speed drive from IMO's Jaguar range. There are no restrictions on the age, condition or manufacturer of the old drive, and the discount applies to the purchase of any drive greater than 2.2kW from the company's market-leading single and three phase CUB, VXR and VXG Jaguar range.

The latest technology from IMO will help engineers to more easily optimise energy savings, reduce emissions and increase overall efficiency.  Jaguar's energy saving payback is typically between 12-18 months, which combined with the unique five-year warranty from IMO makes the IMO Jaguar the only inverter in the world to actually underwrite energy cost savings.

"We believe that this scheme offers an easy solution for upgrading to the latest drive technology," comments Robert Robbins, Drives Sales Manager, IMO Precision Controls.  "It is a great deal in terms of lower cost to the customer, but we also recognise that one of the major benefits will be the significant energy savings made possible by replacing the old drives with newer, more efficient models backed by our unique five-year warranty."

The current range is a result of over 25 years drive development and is recognised as one of the most efficient and reliable in the industry, even in the most demanding and complex applications.  By taking advantage of the scheme, customers will experience the full benefits of Jaguar technology, as well as gaining direct access to IMO's in-house drive knowledge and expertise.  Offering varying functionality and power options up to 710kW, the portfolio is ideal for a broad range of drive applications, from small woodworking machines and conveyors, to the more demanding materials handling, packaging, food processing and textile machines.

IMO has a dedicated website for the initiative which will explain how customers can take part in the scheme, offer help with financing options available through Energy Efficiency Loans from the Carbon Trust, and even enable customers with a straightforward request to order a new drive online.  Visit www.drivesscrappage.com for further information.

Through partnership arrangements with recycling companies, IMO can assure customers that any 'scrapped' drives will be disposed of responsibly and in accordance with the DEFRA publication Best Available Treatment Recovery and Recycling Techniques (BATRRT) and Treatment of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).
