Inkoma appoints new couplings main dealer
Serial 'short life' failures experienced at an important 'converting' client, stimulated proactive steps to find and acquire a dynamic, interchangeable alternative solution. This required technical features that not only increased offset drive connection operating life over conventional shaft couplings.
Francis and Francis sourced an alternative that met all the targets - and more. And after several months of successful trials where the failures had occurred and at an increasing number of other clients, Francis and Francis is pleased to report that it has been appointed as the new main dealer covering the UK and Eire for the full range of Inkoma Maschinenbau flexible couplings.
These include the 'PK' Offset and 'LFK' Lineflex, as well as the 'IFK/IFE' Inkoflex, 'KSO' Oldham-type, 'KWK' Inkocross and 'EFK', 'EFG' and 'EFL' Elaflex 'Spider' couplings. Francis and Francis is known for the Schmidt range of couplings, based on a 'cup' housing needle bearing. By contrast, the Inkoma design includes the use of the more conventional 'cylindrical' housing needle bearings, with axially captivated, headed drive pins. Components are axially retained by internal mechanical end-stops. This provides a substantially wider axial tolerance of ±2mm (ie axial flexibility of up to 4mm.)
The Francis and Francis product portfolio is also broadened with direct access to Inkoma's polygon and splined shafting, spindles and racking, linear actuators and the company's vast range of screw jacks and spiral bevel gearboxes with capacity to almost 400Nm.
