New ideas in linear motion
The latest products and inventions from the Servomech Group are more and more advanced mechatronic systems and solutions to help meet the application requirements of today. The main strength of the Servomech Group is its ability to manufacture everything in house. From design to construction, all processes and innovations are made in house at the Servomech factory in Bologna, Italy, relying on total control of the entire production cycle by highly qualified and skilled staff.
Confirming the importance of making continuous investment to innovate and grow, Servomech decided to expand the existing production space (about 9,000 square metres) with a third building of 5,200 square metres solely dedicated to production. The plant is already completed and was opened in the first half of 2016. Together with this project for production expansion, in the next five years a recruitment program is planned to add 40 highly qualified employees to the existing 100 staff employed.
Efficiency, performance, accuracy: Servomech’s new cylinders
Regarding innovation and product evolution, Servomech constantly releases interesting new products to the market. Among them are a range of powered electromechanical cylinders and a series of electromechanical servo-actuators as real alternatives to hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders.
In more detail, the new range of electromechanical cylinders constitutes a convenient technological innovation to solve the problems connected with the use of hydraulic cylinders. Due to their design and manufacture the new cylinders provide higher efficiency with lower energy consumption. This is made possible thanks to high efficiency electrically driven units of lower power than an equivalent hydraulic solution and consuming energy only during operation. Another distinguishing feature is better position/speed/force control, i.e. the possibility of performing high speeds and loads under precise and accurate position control.
It is also worth highlighting the positioning precision, accurate to a hundredth of a millimeter, the very high repeatability, in addition to better safety and reliability (no risks due to high pressures and no oil leakage) and the possibility of receiv-ing exact, documented calculations concerning the component service life. Available in various configurations for total interchangeability with existing hydraulic cylinders, these new cylinders also have minimum installation and maintenance costs and are available in special executions designed according to specific requirements. Since only power supply and signal transmission cables are necessary, connections are simpler and they are always ready for operation even after long periods without operation or maintenance.
Native integration, technological evolution and new patented design with Servomech ball screw jacks
Among the recently released products of the Servomech Group are new screw jacks. This solution, featuring Servomech ball screws, overcomes the limitations of traditional acme screw jacks.
High linear speeds and continuous operation duty cycles give no nut wear problems and no axial play, exact calculation of component lifetime is possible and finally they may halve both energy consumption and installed power compared to a traditional jack. In particular, the MA BS Series Mod. A with a translating ball screw is made with an innovative patented design.
Due to complete Servomech internal design and manufacturing of all components (including ball screw and nut) it was possible to integrate all the driving elements within the body of the jack at the design stage. The result is not only higher performance and greater positioning accuracy but also greater rigidity with compact dimensions. The advantages that the market can take from this solution are immediate reduction in costs thanks to an efficient optimization of product performance, lower power consumption, greater load capacity at the same size, greater rigidity of the structure thanks to native integration of all the components.
Servomech ball screw jacks are available in 8 sizes, with loading capacity from 5 to 350 kN, ball screw diameters from 16 to 120 mm, input speeds up to 3,000 rpm, linear speeds up to 2 m/s, and continuous duty cycles. Servomech ball screw jacks can be fitted with brushless servomotors thus expanding the number of potential applications.
Linearmech electromechanical servo actuators: high-speed Performance with total control
Linearmech is the division of the Servomech Group responsible for automation and mechatronics. The new electromechanical servo actuators developed by Linearmech are a real alternative to pneumatic cylinders, available in In-Line and Parallel-Design configurations, there are seven different sizes for a wide range of performance. The new products from Linearmech allow traditional users of pneumatic cylinders to make faster, more accurate and more compact machines, by reducing energy consumption and managing all the axes by a central intelligence. The new SA Series range of electromechanical servo actuators includes three different types of con-struction, a pure linear mechanical unit without servo motor, or a complete pack-age including servomotor with in-line or parallel design mounting, in the same linear drive unit with a modular construction. Seven different standard sizes are designed to cover a wide range of performance.
Sturdy and compact, these linear servo actuators are provided with ball screws all made by Servomech (different accuracy classes available depending on the specific application requirements). Also available is a wide range of connections and accessories to standard pneumatic cylinders ISO 15552.x
