Read any good codes lately?

Read any good codes lately?
Ideal not only for code reading, but also for verifying a correct code, the new multicode reader just released by sensor market leader IFM Electronic is just the ticket. Able to handle a score of barcodes and two-dimensional codes such as ECC200 datamatrix or PDF-417 the O2I series multicode readers are already finding uses in industries as diverse as automotive, packaging and pharmaceutical.

Up to ten codes in the field of view at any one time, at any orientation will be found and read by the O2I and the code content transmitted by ethernet or RS232 back to the control system. The interface software for set-up could scarcely be easier to follow and is freely downloadable from IFM Electronic.  Equally simple is the 'point and shoot' installation thanks to the built-in laser pointer.

Available with three different lenses for fields of view ranging from 20mm x 14mm operating at 50mm distance right up to 400mm x 300mm at 2m the O2I series really is a useful addition to the automation engineer's pallette. It is also clear that the O2I is designed for industrial usage, with its robust metal housing and industry standard connectors, the O2I can be installed using high-quality stainless steel mounting sets.

Illumination is integrated, but external lighting can also be used if the application demands it. The O2I series is capable of reading or verifying some of the most complex dot-peened codes under difficult circumstances, such as shiny surfaces.
