Safety switches offer more contacts

Safety switches offer more contacts Omron has introduced a new range of universal switches that combines practical and cost-effective solutions with innovative features for the safeguarding and interlocking of machinery doors. The D4N series comprises six sub-families (D4N, D4NH, D4NS, D4NR, D4NL and D4GL), each of which is designed to provide its own capabilities for door-safety applications. With this range of switches, customers now have a choice of over 1500 configurations that cover the safety switch requirements of at least 95% of the market. Some of the switches offer unique features. Make-before-break contacts in the D4N, D4NS, D4NH and D4NR switches, for example, provide enough time for vital process information to be saved before the system is shut down. The D4NL switch a completely redesigned version of its predecessor offers a holding force of 1300N to provide exceptional safety on doors. The D4GL model features a slim profile and impressive holding force of 1000N, making it suitable for safety-door interlocking applications where space is at a premium. All switches feature extra contacts so that one contact is always available to provide feedback data to the control system. Gold-clad contacts have been included for switching micro-loads and higher current more reliably. In addition, all of the switches are tested to guarantee at least one million operations. All of the two-contact single conduit switches can be ordered with a pre-assembled M12 connector. Installing this four-pin connector is simply a matter of plug and play.
