Southern Manufacturing is now a three-day event

Southern Manufacturing is now a three-day event

Southern Manufacturing and Electronics 2015 returns to FIVE, Farnborough, from February 10th to 12th 2015. The switch from two to three days is just one of the developments waiting to greet visitors to the UK's landmark industrial technology show.

The addition of one more day to the show is an extremely significant development in the show's twenty year history. A longer run makes the event much more attractive to international exhibitors, and the results of this can already be seen in the exhibitor list for 2015, which features an unprecedented number of overseas companies. For visitors, this delivers a unique opportunity to meet numerous major international suppliers and experience world-class demonstrations and product launches right on their own doorstep.

However this is just one aspect of the event; the key attraction remains the combination of top-flight manufacturers alongside highly relevant regional suppliers. No other show in the UK can offer this enormous variety, or range of suppliers, enabling visitors to address numerous production issues in a single, time-efficient visit.

Exhibitors are organised by both area and by a series of 'Technology Trails' which guide visitors interested in specific activities, such as automotive or aerospace, around the venue. A Trail takes in suppliers from a variety of disciplines who are active in that particular sector. Someone following the aerospace trail, for example, will meet not only precision engineering firms but close-tolerance sheet metal, coatings and electronics manufacturers supplying the aerospace industry. So despite the incredible diversity of products and services on show, it is pretty straightforward for visitors to find what they are looking for quickly and easily.

For 2015, the layout of the venue has been remodelled to further improve the flow of visitors around the event. Additional stewards will be on hand to speed show entry and assist visitors. The purpose-built venue that houses the show is now around 18,000 square meters in area, which is larger than five of the halls at the NEC combined. With exhibitor numbers anticipated to be in excess of 800, the Southern Manufacturing show is the top annual industrial exhibition held anywhere in the UK.

In 2015, visitors will once again meet an incredible range of suppliers, from major machinery suppliers such as Amada, Bystronic, Bruderer, Yamazaki Mazak, XYZ Machine Tools and Matsuura, to every kind of component, production hardware, consumable and engineering service. Firms exhibiting hail from all over the UK, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Switzerland and Spain, and as far afield as Canada, Japan and Taiwan.

The Southern Manufacturing show also hosts an extremely popular free seminar programme over both days of the event. Covering both business and technical topics, the programme is delivered by acknowledged experts in their fields and designed to be of practical benefit to anyone involved in manufacturing and industry. Last year saw several sessions oversubscribed by two or three times, despite both seminar rooms being enlarged. Open to both exhibitors and visitors, demand for places next year is expected to be even higher.

Entry to Southern Manufacturing and Electronics 2015 is free to business visitors, and FIVE Farnborough offers plentiful free car parking and easy access by road or public transport.
