Tests confirm performance of CE-TEK fire-rated enclosures

CE-TEK follows an innovative approach when it comes to designing electrical enclosures to operate in the most demanding of environments. One of the biggest challenges is providing a suitable housing, which maintains electrical integrity and continuity during and after a building fire. 

The proven CEX range has successfully met this challenge and in a recent independent test met all the stringent conditions set out by British Standards: BS5839-1: 2013 Section 26.2e. The standard states that enclosures should be able to support cables so that circuit integrity is not reduced below that afforded by the cable when exposed to fire whilst still maintaining PH120 classification for continuity of power supply. The British Standards test replicates a fire scenario, rapid heat build-up (enclosures were tested up to 970ºC) and the process of extinguishing with water, and mechanical shock associated with masonry collapse. 

CE-TEK’s fire-rated enclosures are designed to meet exacting specifications and ensure building fire safety in over-ground and underground rail applications, road tunnels, oil and gas installations and other public places where electrical power supply, emergency lighting and public address systems are required to remain fully operational in the event of a fire. The CEX range consists of over 42 size options manufactured in high grade materials including electro-polished and orbital finished 304L/316L stainless steel and powder coated mild steel. Standard protection to IP66 with IP67 and IP68 versions available on request.
