ABB launches next generation cobots to unlock automation for new sectors and first-time users

ABB is expanding its collaborative robot (cobot) portfolio with the new GoFa and SWIFTI cobot families, offering higher payloads and speeds, to complement YuMi and Single Arm YuMi in ABB’s cobot line-up. These stronger, faster and more capable cobots will accelerate the company’s expansion in high-growth segments including electronics, healthcare, consumer goods, logistics and food and beverage, amongst others, meeting the growing demand for automation across multiple industries.

Automated pick and place solution ends labour-intensive process

RARUK Automation has supplied Plymouth-based Oakmount Control Systems with a new FlexiBowl parts feeder and Shibaura Machine SCARA robot. The two automated systems are now working in unison at a customer of Oakmount, where they are feeding, picking and placing a medical product into individual plastic packaging trays. Previously performed by a human operative, the end user is not only enjoying a faster, more repeatable process, but has redeployed its labour resource to a more value-added task.

Omron has launched a virtual exhibition that enables visitors to walk through a 360 degree virtual tour, guiding them around ‘the factory of the future’ – one in which different innovations have been introduced to increase flexibility, enhance efficiency and boost productivity. The virtual exhibition highlights, in particular, six new technologies that can be used to achieve industrial transformation, with collaboration between people and machines taking a progressive leap forward.
