Maxon Motor expands headquarters with new Innovation Centre

Swiss drive specialist Maxon Motor is expanding its headquarters in Switzerland. Construction of the new Innovation Centre is due to start in February. The building is scheduled to be ready for use by summer 2018, and will provide space for the research, development and production of medical drives.

UK SMEs confident about growth prospects

Half (51%) of SME owners expect their business to grow in 2017, despite not being confident about the UK’s economic outlook for the year ahead, according to the Close Brothers Business Barometer. The quarterly survey questions over 900 UK SME owners and senior management across a range of sectors and regions. Only 10% of businesses expect to contract during 2017, with strong to modest growth predicted by 51%; the remaining 39% expect their prospects to remain the same as 2016.

Fastener Fair Stuttgart 2017 with record exhibition space

Fastener Fair Stuttgart 2017, the world’s leading exhibition for the fastener and fixing industry, will take place from 28 – 30 March 2017 in halls 1, 3 and 5 at the Stuttgart Exhibition Grounds in Germany. The new hall positioning which increased the available net exhibition space to 20,500 m2, enabled a further growth of the exhibition by currently 7% compared to the previous event. Already 97% of the total available stand space has been booked so far.

Huco Dynatork is supplying CLAAS Industrietechnik with its multi-beam couplings for use in a power-split transmission for its newest range of ARION 500/600 series tractors. Having identified a contamination issue caused by the ‘as-machined’ delivery condition of many manufacturers’ standard couplings, CLAAS Industrietechnik approached Huco for a specialised solution which would perform reliably.

RS Components has announced that its DesignSpark online electronics engineering community has now reached a total of 500,000 members. Launched in 2010, the DesignSpark ecosystem offers online design resources and free downloadable tools: DesignSpark PCB, a professional-grade schematic-capture and PCB design tool; DesignSpark Mechanical, an advanced 3D CAD tool based on direct modelling techniques; and DesignSpark Electrical, a fully specified electrical CAD package for the design of control panel, machinery and electrical systems.
