Siemens supplies the world's biggest gearless conveyor drive system

Siemens supplies the world's biggest gearless conveyor drive system to the Cuajone Mine in Peru which is operated by the Mexican mining company Southern Copper Corporation (SCC). The modernization project will entail the installation of a new gyratory crushing and conveyor system by 2016. The belt conveyor will replace a railway system currently used to transport the ore out of the mine to the processing plant.

Igus extends iglidur tribo-tape range for automotive applications

Igus has launched the B160, a new black option of its iglidur tribo-tape. Where a standard bearing solution won't suffice, the B160 has proved an excellent alternative across many automotive applications. The iglidur tribo-tape offers a low friction and noise dampening properties, and will eliminate rattles and squeaks wherever there is a metal to metal or plastic contact; typical examples include leaf springs, steering columns, seating, window mechanisms and arm rests.

Parker inverters help fuel energy storage to support EV rapid charging development project

A major project to create a modular energy storage system that reduces the barriers to installing electric vehicle rapid chargers is making use of inverter technology supplied by Parker, the global leader in motion and control technologies. The project is spearheaded by Future Transport Systems and its subsidiary Connected Energy, a market leader in energy storage technologies and, along with Parker, involves a European automotive OEM giant, Renault, and Ricardo, a global strategic, technical and environmental consultancy.
