Bauer opens flagship production facilities to halve lead time

This month marked the official opening of the new Bauer production facility at the company headquarters in Esslingen. During the day, guests heard from Bauer's MD as well as the Lord Mayor of Esslingen and CEO of Altra Industrial Motion, Bauer's parent company. Guests heard how the facility will act as the flagship for Bauer's new production concept, which increases the flexibility of the company's ability to deliver engineered solutions for all applications on extremely short lead times.

Market leaders cooperate to match their drives and motors

Mitsubishi Electric and Brook Crompton are to offer their inverter drives and motors as a matched and tested package, forming part of a UK-wide agreement that pre-empts tightening energy efficiency regulations. The agreement was formally signed by Richard Eason (left) of Brook Crompton and Roger Payne (right) of Mitsubishi Electric.

E2S warning signals provide critical link for tsunami warning system

The 26 December 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami killed 230,000 people in 14 countries, and swamped coastal communities with waves up to 30 metres high. Following this tragic event, the UN set up the Indian Ocean Tsunami Warning System, and although not directly affected by the 2004 disaster, the Philippines have set up a similar early warning system.
