Igus introduces new material for the food industry

In the food and packaging industry, sorting and packing zones are subject to constant movement of goods and temperature changes. For these storage mechanisms to perform flawlessly, long-lasting plain bearing solutions are required that can withstand friction and heat long-term. Another challenge is the creation of electrostatic charge. Igus has now developed a new wear-resistant material, iglidur AX500, for high temperature applications that also has electrostatic discharge properties.

IFM connects IO-Link sensors to your PC

The new ZZ1060 IO-Link master kit from IFM Electronic makes it easy to connect IO-Link sensors to a PC for parameterisation and data retrieval. The company says this functionality is particularly useful when setting up a new plant, as all of the sensors can be configured prior to installation, which greatly reduces the time needed for commissioning. It is also invaluable when replacing faulty or damaged sensors, as once again they can be preconfigured, which reduces the risk of errors and minimises downtime.

Carlo Gavazzi has extended its PD30 photoelectric sensor family to now include IO-Link versions. The PD30 IO-Link photoelectric sensors are not short on features; and include background and foreground suppression, PointSpot versions offer sensing distances up to 6m, diffuse reflective variants with IR or red emitted 1M sensing distance, retro-reflective sensors with or without polarisation and through beam sensors which are used to detect objects either by reflection or interruption of the emitted light beam.

Making the right choice of laser distance sensors

In today’s automated production processes, laser distance sensors provide non-contact measurements for fast and highly accurate measurement of objects for reliable inline quality control and optimum process efficiency. Examples include high-precision positioning of objects, y-axis positioning of a robot arm or measurement of thickness for double layer control.
