Losses of up to £480,000 have been suggested that one of the UK’s largest automotive manufacturers could lose each hour when they experience downtime on their paint plant. Your overheads may not be as substantial as the above example, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that the old adage you hear in every corner of business and production is true.

Ruland expands range of International Series shaft collars

Ruland has expanded its range of International Series shaft collars to include quick clamping with clamping lever, mountable with or without quick clamping lever, and anodized aluminium bodies with stainless steel hardware. The International Series is an application solution series that lets designers work with inch or metric bore shaft collars that share a single set of dimensions and hardware. This standardization makes it easier to specify shaft collars in different parts of the machine as the envelope will be the same and the use of metric hardware reduces the installation tool variability needed to assemble components in the machine.

Improved appearance, durability and production speed

The thick bond lines and slow curing speed of a high-viscosity silicone rubber adhesive (RTV) used to bond aluminium letters to PVC sign boards was causing aesthetic issues and slowing production for a retail sign manufacturer. The problem was also compounded by the low bond strength of the adhesive which often resulted in letters falling off the boards in transit or after installation.
