Why eddy current sensors are replacing inductive sensors and switches

Both eddy current sensors as well as inductive switches and displacement sensors each have their respective advantages when measuring position and displacement of objects in harsh environments. However, recent advances in eddy current sensor design, integration, packaging and overall cost reduction, have made these sensors a much more attractive option, particularly where high linearity, high speed measurements and high resolution are critical requirements, says Glenn Wedgbrow, business development manager at Micro-Epsilon UK.

10.4-inch TFT features enhanced industrial specification

The P1040XGF1MA00 features XGA resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels), a classic 4:3 aspect ratio and Super Fine TFT (SFT) technology which enables wide viewing angles and highly consistent colour reproduction.

Active protective textile switches off the laser

Active laser protection textiles from JUTEC ensure safety in accordance with DIN EN 60825-4 in high-power laser applications. While passive laser protection materials serve as a barrier between the laser and the outside world at low and medium laser powers, the active textiles ensure that the laser is switched off in an emergency. Structural boards made from recycled Igus energy chains

The Igus ‘chainge’ program has officially begun in the UK. Igus energy chains are now been recycled in a circular way, allowing them to be reused in the company’s own innovation display stands. Working in collaboration with recycling partner MyGroup in Hull, old energy chains were remanufactured into storm boards – versatile structural recycled plastic boards.

IFM delivers safety over IO-Link

With the new AL200S PROFIsafe IO-Link module from IFM Electronic, it is now possible to operate standard safety sensors and actuators via IO-Link. Connected in the usual way to the A or B port of a normal AL1400 or AL1402 IO-Link master, the module uses a special PROFIsafe transmission telegram to provide ‘tunnelled’ communication with the safety controller. This allows it to meet the requirements for safety levels SIL3 (in accordance with IEC 61508) and PLe (in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1).
