Rittal and the IEC 61439 Standard

Design engineers should be aware that the the IEC 61439 switchgear and controlgear systems standard will take effect from November 2014. This standard also applies to wall mounted control panels as well as floor standing power distribution assemblies.

Eaton launches new configurator software tool for customising switchgear

Power management company Eaton has launched a new software program that allows customers to conveniently select and configure Eaton's NZM or IZM circuit breakers or switch-disconnectors to their specific needs. The new 'Circuit Breaker Configurator' software provides access to Eaton's database of several thousand MCCB ACB products and accessories for the simple design and construction of the switchgear. The software is suitable for the creation of switchgear used in industrial, power distribution, power generation, marine and offshore applications. New push-push indexing plungers from Elesa

The new metal GN514 series of push-push indexing plungers from Elesa provides the option of hand or foot operation where push-to-lock and push-to-disengage operation is a big advantage. Applications include rotating fireplaces or filing cabinets - tambas - where the operator may be required to reach some distance, or where a foot operation may simply be more convenient. This push-push arrangement provides a locking function in both extended and retracted positions.
