Robust connector housings for outdoor applications

Harting has expanded its Han-Eco industrial connector series with a range of plastic housings including a variant designed for outdoor applications. These connector housings - in glass fibre reinforced high-performance plastic - give the customer the benefits of reduced weight and improved cost/performance ratio. They combine outstanding mechanical properties and excellent resistance to environmental factors, and in comparison with the company's Han B standard series they also provide greater contact density through an additional module space.

Compact version of Han-Yellock connector

The Han-Yellock 10 is a new, compact addition to Harting's established Han-Yellock family of modular industrial connectors. The availability of 25 different contact inserts means that the Han-Yellock 10 can be adapted to a wide range of applications from energy supply to data transmission. The universal modular design of the connector means that a single unit can reliably transmit power of up to 40 A at 690 V alongside sensitive data signals, as in Ethernet applications. This universality is extended by the availability of multipole varieties incorporating up to 21 contacts, including inserts for optical data transmission.

Opportunities in energy

Almost every country in the world is interested in environmentally friendly design and energy efficiency as when it comes to saving money nothing beats reducing energy use and using renewables, and most countries, like most people, want to save money. The UK Energy Secretary Ed Davey recently said that even a 10 per cent reduction of energy use in 2030 will mean five million tonnes of carbon dioxide is saved and £4billion is cut from bills. Alongside this the aim is for renewable energy to deliver between 30 and 45 per cent of the UK's energy by 2030.
