LabWindows/CVI and Measurement Studio support Vista

National Instruments is releasing the newest versions of LabWindows/CVI, the proven ANSI C integrated development environment, and Measurement Studio, a comprehensive suite of libraries and user interface controls for applications built using Microsoft Visual Studio. LabWindows/CVI 8.1.1 and Measurement Studio 8.1.1 provide support for Windows Vista to help engineers easily transition to the newest version of the Microsoft operating system. As scheduled maintenance releases, LabWindows/CVI 8.1.1 and Measurement Studio 8.1.1 also include bug fixes for improved performance and reliability.

NI DIAdem 10.2 supports Windows Vista

National Instruments is releasing DIAdem 10.2, the latest version of its interactive data management, analysis and reporting software that now offers support for Windows Vista. National Instruments is also releasing NI DataFinder Server Edition 1.1, an updated version of the data mining package that works with DIAdem 10.2 to simplify data sharing and mining across entire groups or departments.

PXI Express instruments offer faster data streaming

National Instruments is launching what is claimed to be the industry's first PXI Express high-speed instruments, as well as the industry's first 18-slot PXI Express chassis. The new modular instruments include the NI PXIe-5122 100MS/s, 100MHz dual-channel digitiser and the NI PXIe-6537 and NI PXIe-6536 50MHz and 25MHz 32-channel digital I/O modules. The NI PXIe-1065 18-slot chassis offers up to 1GB/s per-slot dedicated bandwidth and a combination of both PXI and PXI Express slots. The new PXI Express products suit applications such as signal intelligence, spectral monitoring, semiconductor chip characterisation and video test.

Software-defined test reaches "Tipping Point"

At the 3rd annual National Instruments Military & Aerospace Solutions Conference, held on Tuesday May 22nd 2007 at the Systems Engineering Innovation Centre at Loughborough University, keynote speakers Ian Bell and Darcy Dement introduced conference delegates from across the military and aerospace industry in the UK & Ireland to the "Tipping Point".

Tulsa wins award for graphical system design

The University of Tulsa has won the National Instruments Most Innovative Use of Graphical System Design Award at the third annual Challenge X: Crossover to Sustainable Mobility competition. The team built an environmentally friendly crossover sports utility vehicle based on the National Instruments LabVIEW graphical design environment. Challenge X, which took place in Detroit, Michigan, from 30 May to 7 June, is a four-year engineering competition to develop methods for reducing total energy consumption and emissions in a crossover vehicle while maintaining or exceeding vehicle performance and consumer acceptability.

LabVIEW and intelligent DAQ devices help win award

National Instruments was honoured as a supplier to a winning product in the 2007 Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) competition, a premier awards programme for the medical technology community. OptiMedica Corp used the National Instruments LabVIEW FPGA Module and NI intelligent data acquisition (DAQ) devices to create PASCAL, an innovative laser photocoagulator. PASCAL won the gold award at the 2007 MDEA presentation ceremony, held on 13 June 2007 at the Medical Design and Manufacturing East 2007 Conference and Exposition in New York, USA.

LabVIEW 8.5 includes deterministic, real-time multithreading

National Instruments is launching LabVIEW 8.5, the latest version of the graphical system design platform for test, control and embedded system development. Building on nearly 10 years of investment in multithreading technology, LabVIEW 8.5 significantly reduces the programming complexity commonly associated with sophisticated control systems based on multicore and FPGA architectures. With the parallel dataflow language of LabVIEW, engineers can easily balance several measurement and control tasks between the multiple processor cores available on today's standard PC platforms. For added performance and reliability, LabVIEW 8.5 offers the following: deterministic, real-time multicore tools; new machine monitoring functions for both desktop and FPGA platforms; and expanded OPC connectivity to hundreds of industrial devices.

RF vector signal generator features PXI Express interface

National Instruments is releasing the NI PXIe-5672, an RF vector signal generator that delivers signal generation from 250kHz to 2.7GHz, 20MHz of instantaneous bandwidth and real-time data streaming at up to 25MS/s. The NI PXIe-5672 also features a PXI Express interface that makes it possible to stream data from hard disk or PC memory at the full output rate of the instrument. The NI PXIe-5672 is compatible with all NI PXI, PXI Express modular instruments and NI LabVIEW modulation algorithms, making it easy for engineers to develop a complete PXI-based RF record-and-playback system, as well as broadcast video and general-purpose communication test systems.

80-channel USB data acquisition devices

National Instruments is launching what it claims to be the industry's first 80-channel USB data acquisition devices, new BNC USB M series devices and a new USB-9237 C series module. The complete NI USB data acquisition offering now spans more than 45 devices with single-channel sampling rates of up to 1.25 MS/s, analogue generation of up to 2.86 MHz and correlated digital I/O of more than 1 MHz for low-, mid- and high-channel-count applications. The 80-channel USB M Series devices are claimed to be the industry's highest channel-count USB multifunction data acquisition devices, the BNC USB M series devices provide direct BNC connectivity and the USB C series modules offer less expensive and more portable hardware. With the plug-and-play connectivity of USB, engineers and scientists have an easy-to-use, portable device for their measurement, monitoring and control applications.
