Dealing with complex designs in the shortest time

Vector Fields has released a major new version of its Concerto software tool for high-frequency electromagnetic design. Although Concerto's developers already believe the package to offer the fastest-executing solver for this electromagnetic application area, generic design trends such as a move to higher frequencies and more sophisticated antennas are leading to much more complex designs.

Delcam moves to 'Tribrid Modelling'

Delcam says it has taken CAD software to a new level with the launch of the first product development system to offer Tribrid Modelling. Tribrid Modelling is a new version of Delcam's PowerSHAPE Pro design software that adds triangle modelling to the combination of surface and solid modelling currently offered in many existing packages as 'hybrid modelling'. The extended range of functionality is ideal for the re-engineering of existing products into improved or bespoke designs.

Autodesk to acquire ECSCAD

Autodesk has signed a definitive agreement with Mensch und Maschine Deutschland GmbH, a member of the Mensch und Maschine group, to acquire substantially all of the assets - including the ECSCAD product line - of Elektro-CAE-Software GmbH (ECS), a premier solution provider of electrical computer-aided design (CAD) software. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Russian aero giant turns to Ansys

Aircraft engine manufacturer JSC NPO Saturn has selected the comprehensive suite of multiphysics products from Ansys to accelerate its product innovation initiatives. The Russian-based company plans to use simulation software from Ansys mainly in the area of aircraft engine design. It also expects to tackle applications such as gas turbine engines for power generation.

Siemens PLM Software has announced that Version 4 of Teamcenter Express software - the collaborative product data management (cPDM) component of the Velocity Series. The latest release adds an embedded project management option and a new shop floor access client. Two new modules help SMBs streamline their engineering resources and widen access to their product data for project managers and lead engineers.
