Rittal is offering UK customers the chance to ‘test drive’ its Perforex machining and automation systems before they buy. Rittal Perforex machining centres are a major advance for switchgear manufacturing. They are designed to automate the creation of bore holes, cut-outs and threads in mounting plates, enclosure doors and side panels.

Eplan"s data portal adds user ratings

Eplan’s Data Portal, which provides access to downloadable data and drawings for hundreds of thousands of components, has now added a user rating function. The resulting feedback will help manufacturers that host product information on the portal to hone and structure their data so that it is an even better match for the needs of the EPLAN Data Portal users. Since the new rating function was introduced early in 2018, more than 80 product catalogues with a total of 50,000 data sets have already been updated.

Thermal imaging tools key in futuristic transport project

Here’s a challenge: build your own Hyperloop pod prototype and test it at Elon Musk’s SpaceX headquarters in California. Who said engineering can’t be fun? Engineering students from the University of Edinburgh who were accepted to participate in the exciting SpaceX Hyperloop Pod competition used thermal imaging and measurement technology from Flir to make sure their prototype was ready for the race.
