Even smaller Smalley rings and springs

From medical devices to electronics, the world around us is getting smaller. As a result, a common question for TFC engineers, says the company, is “How small can you go?”

Now TFC is pleased to announce that Smalley’s newly expanded manufacturing capabilities now allow the company to design and manufacture ‘The Engineer’s Choice’ for Wave Springs and Spirolox retaining rings down to diameters as small as 4mm.

TFC says its engineers have been pushing the limits on coiling technology for over 50 years. Smalley’s Crest-to-Crest wave springs originated nearly 35 years ago with the promise of space savings and continue to provide spring height reductions of nearly 50% compared to standard coil springs. TFC product manager Simon Ward comments: “We are now able to offer engineers space saving capabilities in applications and industries that have long sought the use of our technology.”

So, how small do you need? as TFC’s engineering team continue to push the coiling limits, the company is inviting users to challenge it to see if TFC can design a ring or spring for your application? As ever, you can contact the company’s engineers to answer key design questions and provide solutions that work best for individual applications.
