Joysticks build-in safety cut-out

Feteris Components is now supplying an industrial, robust joystick to control the motion of cranes. Three axes of proportional motion are controlled by the joystick's three potentiometers; main hoist, rotational traversing and crane bridge position.

The joystick provides a dual 'dead man's handle' protection, made by micro-switches detecting joystick movement, and by pushbutton. If the operator lets go of the joystick, either the micro-switch or pushbutton will disable the crane motion. Dual redundancy is also offered by ganging two potentiometers together per axis complete with two micro-switches per axis in each direction.
