With VIPER Motor Control, Kendrion presents a customer-specific, sensorless motor controller for battery-powered applications in forestry and agriculture, as well as in the construction and mining industries.

The controller enables manufacturers to meet the growing demands for efficiency, performance, and robustness in electrified off-highway applications. VIPER provides them with a powerful foundation for the electrification of demanding tools.

The market trend is clearly moving toward electrification, efficiency, and brushless motors. At the same time, conventional motor controllers are increasingly reaching their limits - particularly in terms of dynamics, performance, and adaptability. VIPER was specifically developed for demanding, portable applications with high dynamic loads, such as those found in hydraulic pump systems under harsh environmental conditions.

The motor controller is designed for a battery voltage range of 12 V to 48 V and enables an efficiency increase of up to 50 percent compared to existing solutions. This significantly ex-tends battery runtime and increases available power - a decisive advantage for portable pow-er tools. Thanks to sensorless motor control, VIPER reduces the number of components and increases reliability. The robust, fully encapsulated hardware with IP54 protection is vibration-resistant and designed for use in demanding environments. It ensures reliable operation in temperature ranges from -20 degC to +90 degC (in intermittent operation).

A key unique selling point of the motor control system is the complete customisability of the physical module. VIPER can be precisely tailored to the specific application - both in terms of dimensional requirements and electrical specifications such as handling highly dynamic loads, optimised start-up behaviour even at high pressure, and short-term power boosts enable maximum performance with consistent and predictive mechanical behaviour. In addition, the optimised control strategy ensures quiet operation while maintaining a compact form factor.

The technology's capabilities have already been proven: VIPER is successfully used in battery-powered rescue equipment and automotive hydraulic pump solutions, and is installed in highly efficient solar-powered vehicles (160-V battery).
