Motion drive solutions for the water and wastewater industries

Other exhibits include a selection of gearboxes, motors and technologies for the water industries, as well as drives from the newly inaugurated WEG Automation Europe.

At stand PB8, WEG will introduce its W23 Sync+ hybrid motor line that combines permanent magnet and switch reluctance technologies to produce the most efficient motor with IEC dimensions available today. The W23 Sync+ has an efficiency rating of IE5 and the W23 Sync+ ULTRA boasts an IE6 rating, with both types having increased power factors.

Also in the motor line-up is the W22 range, a high-performance motor line renowned for its reliability and efficiency. WEG will also exhibit the W22 WIMES motor, engineered to comply with the stringent requirements of the Water Industry Mechanical and Electrical Specifications (WIMES).

WEG will demonstrate several inverters from its flagship CFW series, including the CFW100, CFW300, CFW500, CFW11 and the latest CFW900. The CFW series is designed for control of three-phase induction motors and permanent magnet motors to achieve greater levels of efficiency.

Most variable speed drives (VSDs) from WEG's CFW range are compatible with Pump Genius, a comprehensive process control software that can manage and monitor up to six pumping operations in a coordinated system. The intelligent tool can minimise downtime and maximise energy savings in pump applications.

"Improving energy efficiency has never been more important for the water and wastewater sectors," explained Marek Lukaszczyk, marketing manager for Europe and the Middle East at WEG. "Our demonstrations at the Water Equipment Show have been specially selected to provide visitors with the technology that can help them meet their efficiency goals."

For the first time, WEG will also demonstrate drives that have been designed and manufactured at its newly acquired European business unit in Milan, Italy. Among its products is the ADV200-SP drive. This drive uses PV panels to turn solar energy into mechanical power, which is then converted into hydraulic force for the pump.

"The ADV200-SP drive is a great example of a WEG technology that drives efficiency for the water sector," continued Lukaszczyk. "However, we know that the best way to achieve peak efficiency is to combine our technologies into an integrated WEGmotion Drive package. At the Water Equipment Show, our engineers will be available at stand PB8 to provide consultation on improving energy efficiency through motion drive solutions."

To conclude the drive packages available from WEG, the WG50 and WG20 gearboxes will also be on display at the show. These robust gearboxes are designed to withstand harsh operating conditions, such as those faced in pumping applications.

Finally, WEG will demonstrate its remote monitoring system, Motion Fleet Management (MFM). MFM is an innovative tool that enables engineers to monitor the performance of motors, drives and other industrial assets. The system can be used in water and wastewater networks to identify faults, reduce downtime and improve productivity.
