Siemens named a leader in product lifecycle management

Siemens Digital Industries Software has been named a leader in The Forrester Wave: Product Lifecycle Management In Discrete Manufacturing, Q1 2023 report.

In this evaluation of Siemens’ Teamcenter portfolio and nine other PLM platforms, Siemens was cited as a Leader in Product Lifecycle Management for Discrete Manufacturers, receiving the top ranking in the current offering category, tying for the highest score in the strategy category and receiving the highest possible score in the market presence category.

Forrester interviewed Teamcenter customers for their assessment, with the report stating “Reference customers noted the quality of the implementation experience, support for overcoming supply disruption, and support for multidomain design data. They rated the user interface and usability favourably”.

According to the report, “Siemens’ strategic acquisitions support its superior vision. The Mentor Graphics acquisition underpins Siemens’ smart product strategy. Siemens’ acquisition of Supplyframe anticipated the importance of integrating PLM with sourcing. Its digital logistics strengthens design for availability. Its acquisition of Mendix anticipated the importance of low-code extensibility to user adoption and engagement. Siemens’ innovation roadmap benefits from corporate innovation investment of more than €5 billion in 2022 from Siemens’ Next47 VC investment group and from the Mendix developer network. Its vertical market approach, for example, offering aerospace design verification; its large global customer success organiaation; and its extensive Siemens Xcelerator portfolio were also distinctive.”

It went on to say: “Siemens demonstrates superior management of stage gates, digital thread, product development control, sourcing, software bill, embedded software, variants, engineering change, bill of process, digital twin of manufacturing process, product line engineering, extended bills of material, service and supply chain use cases, compliance sustainability and green PLM support, and platform characteristics.”
