WEG showcases clean energy and ocean protection initiatives at COP30

Global motor and drive manufacturer WEG has announced a series of exclusive activations taking place during COP30 between November 10-21, 2025, in Brazil in partnership with Brazilian global-impact initiative Voice of the Oceans.

The initiative is led by the Schurmann Family, the first Latin American family to circumnavigate the world in a sailing boat, and promotes ocean protection and recovery through science, education and innovation.

As part of this partnership, the initiative will occupy the iconic cultural space Casa das Onze Janelas, which will be transformed into the Casa Vozes do Oceano (Voice of the Ocean House) during the event. The space, free and open to the public, will feature an immersive exhibition supported by WEG, along with artistic installations that invite visitors to reflect on the planet's future and the environmental challenges we face.

WEG's participation in COP30 goes beyond supporting the exhibition. The company will also play a leading role in the energy transition agenda, presenting case studies and solutions in thematic panels reflecting its sustainability strategy based on four pillars: energy efficiency, operational efficiency, renewable energies and electric mobility.

This journey begins even before the official opening of COP30. Onboard sailing boats Kat and Aysso, which form part of the Voice of the Oceans mission, WEG will showcase sustainable onboard solutions, contributing clean and efficient technologies that support environmentally conscious navigation. The sustainable sailing boat Kat arrived in Belem in early November and docked at the pier of Casa das Onze Janelas, welcoming visitors at scheduled times for guided and interactive experiences.

WEG's participation at COP30 reinforces its commitment to sustainability and innovation. The company acts as Co-Chair of the COP Energy Transition Working Group (SBCOP), an initiative led by the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI) that brings together national and international organisations to strengthen the role of the productive sector in climate discussions. WEG is represented by Daniel Godinho, Director of Sustainability and Institutional Relations.

Among the program highlights, WEG will present the Association of Agro-Extractive Workers of Ilha das Cinzas (ATAIC) case - a community-based agroindustry in the Amazon operating 100 per cent on clean energy (solar and BESS batteries) in partnership with Natura. The project promotes a reduction in diesel use, lower costs and carbon emissions and positive social and economic impact for riverside communities.

The company will also participate in the Virada Sustentavel initiative with the Boat of Hope, which sailed from Manaus to Belem between November 4 and 7 and will be docked at COP30 from November 10 to 21. The vessel will host 250 guests, including business leaders, experts, public sector representatives and civil society to discuss environmental preservation and the energy transition.

WEG's presence at COP30 reflects its ongoing mission to promote innovation and sustainability through collaboration, technology and purpose. Through partnerships with organisations like Voice of the Oceans, WEG reinforces that a cleaner, more equitable future depends on collective action and shared responsibility.
