TR Fastenings invests in 3D printing

Leading global manufacturer and distributor of industrial components TR Fastenings has invested in a highly sophisticated 3D printer for the purpose of creating testing and prototyping parts, predominantly for the automotive industry. The 3D printer, which is based at the company's headquarters in East Sussex, will use molten plastic to produce the prototypes, enabling customers to see what a particular part might look like before they commit to ordering a large quantity.

Jürgen Kreutz from the electrical maintenance department at Gropper dairy had been looking for a 'fresh' idea for the full-crate check at the end of the cup production line. His idea of solving this task using LRS 36 light section sensors from Leuze electronic reduces the number of sensors, simplifies the application, saves manual conversion required due to the frequent format changes and makes this particular step in the quality assurance procedure more reliable.

Global AC drives manufacturer Vacon is now part of the Danfoss Group. In September 2014, Danfoss announced a public tender offer to acquire all the shares of Vacon. By the end of November, Danfoss obtained approvals from all the relevant authorities, and has now acquired more than 90% of Vacon shares and voting rights in Vacon.

COPA-DATA receives SIL 2 certification

COPA-DATA has received the "Safety Integrity Level 2" (SIL 2) certification and thus meets the requirements in accordance with the international standard IEC 61508 for the reliability of the safety functions of operational facilities. 'iglidur on tour' car completes UK leg

Polymer bearing specialist igus rounded off 2014 with a celebration of their 50th birthday and also 30 years of their self-lubricating bearing material, iglidur. To mark both milestones and demonstrate the robust and durable nature of the material in extreme environments, igus retrofitted a small car with iglidur bearings and sent it on a round the world trip. The iglidur car has now completed the UK leg of its tour, which began in November, having visited famous landmarks around the country, such as the Stonehenge, Angel of The North, Edinburgh Castle and Buckingham Palace.
