Shaft collars now available in inch-sizes for American market

UK components and standard parts supplier, WDS Components, has released a range of shaft collars in inch-sizes. Aimed primarily at the American market, the range extends in several sizes from inside diameters of 1/4” up to 1”. The shaft collars are available in stainless steel, as well as cost effective and durable zinc-plated steel.

Maintenance-free, economical alternative to classic cast housing bearings

Nature can provide engineering with great inspiration; for instance, the shape of the new igubal pillow block bearings from Igus is based on the design of a tree. Flattened radii ensure maximum strength against mechanical stresses, like a tree’s base. Thanks to this bionic shape, these lubrication- and maintenance-free high-performance plastic housings are said to be a real alternative to classic cast housing bearings.

Kontron presents new modules for Arm processor architecture

Kontron has extended its product portfolio to include the system-on-module OSM-S i.MX8M Mini with a 1.6 GHz quad core processor, eMMC, LPDDR4 memory and the Open Standard Module (OSM) form factor size-S of only 30 mm x 30 mm as well as the single-board computer BL i.MX8M Mini OSM. The OSM standard is designed for modules that can be directly soldered without plug connections so that the OSM module can be economically manufactured mechanically.

Inductive heat for precise and sustainable assembly

Trio launches four-axis stepper controller with high performance motion

Trio Motion Technology has launched a controller for stepper or pulse and direction servo drives with high performance motion control across four axes. The MC404-Z is primarily aimed at OEMs that need fast and accurate motion performance as well as a cost-optimal machine build. The all-in-one controller enables I/O extension through CANbus and can also integrate directly with common PLC and HMI protocols via a built-in Ethernet port.

Highly efficient photon counters precisely tested

Photon counters from Laser Components’ COUNT series achieve a typical quantum efficiency of 75%, confirmed with comparative measurements by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB). At a wavelength of 670 nm, only a deviation of one percent from the specified value of 75% occurred.
