Structural boards made from recycled Igus energy chains

The Igus ‘chainge’ program has officially begun in the UK. Igus energy chains are now been recycled in a circular way, allowing them to be reused in the company’s own innovation display stands. Working in collaboration with recycling partner MyGroup in Hull, old energy chains were remanufactured into storm boards – versatile structural recycled plastic boards.

IFM delivers safety over IO-Link

With the new AL200S PROFIsafe IO-Link module from IFM Electronic, it is now possible to operate standard safety sensors and actuators via IO-Link. Connected in the usual way to the A or B port of a normal AL1400 or AL1402 IO-Link master, the module uses a special PROFIsafe transmission telegram to provide ‘tunnelled’ communication with the safety controller. This allows it to meet the requirements for safety levels SIL3 (in accordance with IEC 61508) and PLe (in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1).

Plastic fast axis collimating lenses

Laser Components offers plastic Fast Axis Collimating (FAC) lenses for use with its wide range of laser diode products. Most laser diodes emit a divergent elliptical beam due to the construction of the laser diode and its output aperture. FAC lenses are therefore required to create a parallel beam either for free space applications or for coupling efficiently into an optical fibre.

Manufacturer turns to Delta for machine vision robotic solution

Metal LS, the Bulgarian manufacturer of door locking systems, door and window handles and building hardware, started planning the new automated assembly of door locks in 2019. The robotic systems that the company already used for other applications were too large for the planned production site, so the new solutions needed to be as compact and precise as possible, in addition to being state of the art.

KEB drive controllers help optimise servo-hydraulic press to ensure fewer rejects

KEB Automation has supplied a variety of drive controllers from its COMBIVERT range, as well as Active Infeed Converters to MS-Hydraulik, a developer of servo-hydraulic press technology based in Hattingen, Germany. The KEB products were specified for a special purpose, 1200-tonne capacity servo-hydraulic press that produces large individual steel parts for vehicle construction.

AC cabinet cooling fans cut energy consumption by more than 30%

EAO has introduced a new series of energy efficient electronically commutated (EC) axial fans. The latest additions to the Sanyo Denki San Ace family of equipment cooling fans, the San Ace 172AD and 172ADW measure just 99mm by 250mm but deliver the cooling performance and low noise requirements demanded by high static pressure cooling applications such as FFU (fan filter units), air purifiers, cooling inverters and high-density telecom cabinets.
