RS Components (RS) is further widening its library of online 3D CAD product models with the introduction of more than 2000 new models from manufacturers in its automation and control range, including Siemens, Omron, SMC, Parker Legris, Ace Products and Nuvotem. Available to download free of charge from the RS website, the models offer significant benefits to engineers and machine and panel builders who are looking for ways to cut design times in the increasingly competitive maintenance market.
As with the entire range of more than 30,000 certified 3D CAD models of electronic and mechanical components now available from the RS library, registered users can download the new models at zero cost in up to 23 neutral and native 3D CAD formats, which can be imported into all of the most popular CAD suites. This enables engineers to select their preferred CAD package for mechanical design, allowing faster product integration. To ease identification of parts and to speed up product orders, each of the 3D models is tagged with the RS part number. The new models span the full automation and control product offering from RS, including the latest programmable logic controllers, pneumatic controls and components, industrial controls, and switching and safety components.
Kevin Thompson, General Manager Maintenance at Electrocomponents says: "Today's engineers are fighting a constant battle to get design times down to a minimum, and shorter design cycles can mean the difference between the success or failure of a project. Using our free 3D CAD models in their design process, our customers can gain invaluable time that would otherwise be spent creating models from scratch. This is just one of the many ongoing initiatives in place at RS to develop reliable technical online resources for maintenance and electronics engineers across the globe."
RS currently offers more than 200,000 products in its automation and control range. For more information, visit www.rs-components.com.
