ASCO Numatics' innovative Actuator Control Systems (ACS) will be used to drive actuators in a new power generation facility being built as part of Indonesia's, East Java, Banyu Urip oilfield development. The ACS were specified by Italian-based Sofinter S.P.A., (Macchi brand) a specialist supplier of power generation plants.
Sofinter selected ASCO Numatics because of its ability to supply Actuator Control Systems that are engineered and configured to meet the specific needs of the application. The ACS will be supplied as pre-assembled units significantly reducing on-site engineering and installation time, and enabling significant savings to the total installed cost.
The ACS use SIL 3 capable solenoids and are IECEx/ATEX approved. Over 100 will be used to control process valves across the power generating facility. Each ACS comprises a 316L stainless steel solenoid (pilot) valve, with a filter regulator and a pressure relief valve to extend the operating life and enhance safety.
The ACS components are connected by means of a versatile, leak tight coupling system and mounted on a vibration resistant and shock proof stainless steel base plate. The modular system eliminates complex arrangements using panels, pipes and additional fittings and is pre-assembled ready for use.
The ACS features an optimised flow path for better performance and is lighter and stronger than conventional panel mounting assemblies. Its compact dimensions minimises panel space requirements. Many configurations are possible with filter regulators and various single or redundant solenoids with wide pressure ranges and no minimum operating pressure.
