Chain manufacturer Iwis introduces anti-backbend chains. These chains, which are flexible in only one direction, are used for pushing loads and transmitting forces over longer distances without the need for a guidance system. Developed to specific customer needs, anti-backbend chains are used throughout the world in applications such as medical devices, transport systems, building services engineering and machine tools. Now chain specialist Iwis is offering anti-backbend chains under the Iwis and Elite brands.
Compact in design, the chains are suitable for transmitting tensile and compressive forces, and do not need a guidance system even over longer distances. Anti-backbend chains perform a similar function as linear drives, eliminating the need for an endless, circulating chain drive. The side- and backbend capability is individually adjustable. The chains can be made in a range of sizes and configured for various drive concepts, including for larger strokes.
In its own research and development facility, iwis has been developing anti-backbend chains for 15 years, continually incorporating its latest findings about the factors affecting chain geometry and assembly techniques on the chain's technical characteristics. The chains are developed in close cooperation with users and can be fabricated at various production sites. The manufacturer's services include wear, fatigue strength and fracture load analyses.
Quality is ensured through in-house developed test methods and equipment. In addition to anti-backbend chains, iwis provides a full product range for all drive and conveying applications. The iwis Group's programme for industrial applications comprises precision and high-performance roller chains, conveyor chains, maintenance-free and corrosion-resistant chains, accumulation chains, special-purpose conveyor chains, chains for agricultural machinery, flyer chains, flat-top chains and modular belts as well as timing drives for the automotive industry.
