Precise and cost-effective alignment of shafts

Precise and cost-effective alignment of shafts

If the shafts in pumps, compressors or gearboxes are not aligned with each other, the result is higher energy consumption and increased machine wear, which can lead to unplanned downtime. Based on the innovative single laser technology, Schaeffler is now bringing the LASER-EQUILIGN2 alignment tool onto the market, describing it as an innovative system for aligning rotating shafts – for the highest levels of machine performance and availability as well as lower operating costs.

Phase shifting mirrors from Laser Components

Phase shifting mirrors from Laser Components

Phase shifting mirrors are used to convert incident linearly polarised light into circularly polarised light. The optical coating on the mirrors achieves this conversion by providing a L/4 phase shift in the incident light. This coating may be applied to either copper or silicon substrates. Phase shifting mirrors are commonly used in applications such as laser cutting to achieve an axis independent, uniform cut.

Explosion-proof solutions for smart production

Explosion-proof solutions for smart production

On the Industry 4.0 map, hazardous areas still appear as white spots in many manufacturing operations. The requirements for robustness and explosion protection are high, the terrain extensive, and connectivity often limited. This where the intrinsically safe smart devices from the Pepperl+Fuchs brand Ecom Instruments come in, and at SPS the company will be demonstrating how the gap between the safety requirements of hazardous areas and the hunger for data of the smart factory can be closed.
