Cobham Technical Services is releasing a new version of its Vector Fields Software tool for designing rotating electrical machinery. The electromagnetic simulation software combines the accuracy of virtual prototyping using finite-element analysis with a rapid front-end design tool that allows users to create models of motors and generators in minutes, allowing users to achieve radical new levels of development productivity.

Autodesk takes to the air in Paris

Autodesk takes to the air in Paris

Signalling its intention to aggressively sell its Digital Prototyping software into the aerospace and defence market. Autodesk used the Paris Air Show to showcase its 2010 product line for the aerospace industry. The company demonstrated aerospace software solutions for interior design (Autodesk Alias), engineering and production (Autodesk Navisworks), and repair and maintenance (AutoCAD Mechanical and AutoCAD). The Autodesk solution for digital prototyping enables use of a single digital model across the Autodesk product line.

Compression lock technology had seemed to be rather confined to a limited range of applications until it recently came out of patent protection and now a much wider market is finding it beneficial. However the question stands: is a compression facility beneficial, and where? Well certainly the anti-vibration role of these locks is excellent in preventing opening of panels such as on trucks, railway rolling stock gensets, aircon and heating and ventilating systems.
