Compact lifting cylinders can carry heavier loads

Danaher Motion has launched two new electric lifting cylinders, the Thomson Pro 80 and the Thomson Pro 40. The Thomson Pro 80, with its ball thread screw, is designed to withstand a 905kg maximum load, whereas the Pro 40 model, with trapezoidal spindle, has a 340kg top load-bearing capacity.

As well as greater load capacities, the new models, compared with existing Thomson actuators, have more compact designs, enhanced energy efficiency and comprehensive control options. The new electric lifting cylinders also feature electronic limit switch-off and overload protection, programmable switches and the choice between digital or analogue feedback options. In standard versions, feedback can be delivered by either Hall effect technology or via a second option, a linear potentiometer.

Both Thomson Pro models boast a contemporary, lightweight and low-noise design plus a sealed die-cast aluminum housing. The motor offers a third less torque than previous Thomson models, but can operate at three times the speed. Head and helical toothed wheels have been reduced by a third and bi-directional holding brakes and sealed electrical connections are also now incorporated in both models. The back of the motor has connections for standard installation but also the option for offsetting it by 90 degrees.
