Hardened telescopic rails

Nadella has partnered with Moore International to promote its range of hardened telescopic rails through Moore’s extensive customers in the original equipment manufacturing sector.

This product range will further enhance Moore International’s ability to provide a comprehensive range of mechanical motion transfer products to sit alongside its existing ranges of ballscrews, leadscrews, roller screws, linear motion products and precision servo gearboxes.

Now part of Timken Group, Nadella has perfected its ball guided, compact hardened telescopic rails which are made entirely of steel. The profiles are cold drawn and the raceways induction hardened enabling the movement of heavy loads whilst maintaining smooth rolling in operation due to the robust ball cage interposed between the sliding elements.

Nadella telescopic slides are available in different versions, which are classified according to their extension ratio and their load capacity into part extensions, full extensions, heavy-duty extensions and over extensions. This results in a large number of versions, depending on the stroke, height, load and available installation space. Effective production of the telescopic rails enables short delivery times with high flexibility.

Nadella’s raceways are Gothic arch shaped which increases the load carrying capacity in the system in comparison to V shape raceways.

Moore International is promoting three lines:

  • NTAG – a semi-telescopic rail, where the slider can escape for more than half its length
  • NTSG – a rail which allows a stroke equal to the length of the closed rail, thanks to an intermediate element that acts as a bridge between the two sliders
  • NTFSG – with one or more sliders that run inside the rail

The standard rails come on two sizes, 28 and 43, however, special rails can be produced to suit the application.

NTSFG and NTAG rails are supplied with a surface treatment of electrolytic white zinc on all components (slider, rail and ball cage). The zinc plating process is performed after the drilling of the elements. On request other surface treatments can be applied, for example, chemical nickel plating and phosphating. The steel balls can be supplied in stainless steel if requested.

The guides are supplied with raceways lubricated with bearing grease allowing for operation within a temperature range of -20°C to +120°C – contact Moore International if the application is expected to run at higher temperatures. Customers will need to re-lubricate periodically according to usage and application to ensure long-life is maintained – the recommendation is for re-lubrication after every 50,000 cycles.

Deflection will occur on the end of the rail according to the rigidity of the structures connected to the guide elements. It is, in fact, the elastic deformation you can register at the edge of the opened rail when a load is applied. The values of deflection are calculated and recommended by Nadella and refer to the maximum load applied to the middle of the opened slider.

Nadella’s range of telescopic rails offers flexibility and versatility to many applications to extract a load, safely and to enable quick, smooth and easy access. Customer sectors include:
