High efficiency motors reduce installation costs
RS Components has expanded its portfolio of products targeted at the automation market with the introduction of two families of highly efficient and compact three-phase squirrel cage AC induction motors from Siemens.
>The modular 1LA7 and 1LE1 2- and 4-pole motors operate over a power range of between 0.37kW and 7.5kW and have been designed to meet the requirement for reduced energy consumption in hydraulic drive systems across a broad range of industry sectors. Constructed in IEC standard frame sizes, the EMC-optimised housing design of these motors combines maximum flexibility with minimum installation costs, allowing optional parts such as encoders, brakes, thermistors, and separately driven fans to be retrofitted easily according to customer requirements. Rotatable accessible connection boxes, integral eyebolts, and reinforced bearing plates enhance functionality, and screw-on feet can be selected for flexible mounting, a feature that is particularly useful for installation in confined spaces.
>The 1LA7 and 1LE1 are produced in an innovative rotor technology using a compound of highly conductive materials, which allows for a considerable reduction in size and weight of the motors. Both motors are implemented in IE1 (standard), IE2 (high) and IE3 (premium) efficiency variants, with no increase in shaft height across the efficiency class range, allowing the motors to be replaced using the existing mechanical infrastructure at minimal cost.
>The high quality Siemens 'Inverter Resistant Insulation System' guarantees the highest electrical and dynamic strength, enabling all Siemens motors with variable speed drives up to 460V to be operated either directly on the line or converter-fed, without the need for any additional measures.
