High-performance cycloidal gears from Nabtesco

Increasing automation in industry raises the demand for precision gears. Efficiency, availability and safety will be among the main requirements in 2024. Nabtescos cycloidal gear systems guarantee fast, precise positioning and have been successfully used for more than 30 years in robotics and automation around the world.

High-performance cycloidal gears from Nabtesco

Cycloidal gears from Nabtesco feature high dynamics and precision (max. hysteresis loss of 0.5 to 1 arcmin), minimal wear throughout the service life, outstanding shock resistance (up to 500 % of the rated torque), and a high overload capacity (two to three times higher than that of planetary gears). This makes them the ideal basis for high-performance, reliable and efficient processes in the production industry.

Our cycloidal gears stand for efficiency, safety and sustainability. They achieve pin-point positioning with a large safety margin, guarantee an above-average service life, and enable significant boosts in performance and efficiency, says Daniel Obladen, head of sales for general industries at Nabtesco Precision Europe. Our roots are in robotics and automation, which explains our commitment to high quality. This is also reflected in our claim rate of 0.01 %.

In 2024, Nabtescos focus on robotics will expand to include general machine and plant engineering. Especially important are the areas of machine tool manufacturing and medical technology. Nabtesco fulfils the typical requirements of these industries for precision, safety and efficiency with the Neco series.

The servo gearboxes achieve high precision with a hysteresis loss of only 0.5 arc.min and feature an extremely robust design with double-bearing eccentric shafts and a bearing-mounted drive shaft. A high level of modularity and standardisation guarantee high availability. The simplicity approach reduces susceptibility to faults while optimising efficiency.

A strong, reliable partner

We have not been spared the effects of the current world economic situation. Nevertheless, our outlook for the year 2024 is cautiously optimistic. We see perspectives for growth and continue to expand our investments. Factors such as the increasingly acute shortage of skilled labour, a trend toward reshoring (bringing production capacities back home), and continued pressure for cost reduction are drivers of automation that stimulate demand, says Daniel Obladen.

Decades of experience, high production capacities (currently one million gear units per year, two million per year by 2030), comprehensive engineering expertise and a broad quality portfolio allow the fast implementation of efficient drive concepts that are tailored to the exact requirements of the customers application.
