ifm announces the release of safety encoders designed for mobile machines. These encoders offer high precision and reliability for a broad spectrum of applications including municipal vehicles, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), and various heavy-duty machinery used in mines and ports.

The new safety encoders are engineered for fast integration, even in series production. They ensure seamless communication with controllers, delivering accuracy in position synchronisation, thanks to the 'preset on the fly' function. This feature allows continuous and precise adjustments during motion, enhancing operational efficiency.
Key safety features include an integrated safety check and an optional daisy chain configuration. These components simplify system setup while maintaining stringent safety standards. The encoders' sensor redundancy and continuous self-monitoring capabilities are designed to ensure safe operation at all times.
Whether it's recording the position, angle, and speed of axles, turntable ladders, crane arms, or tippers, the safety encoders from ifm provide vital data that can be used to derive steering, turning, or tilting angles, as well as the height position of lifting elements. This makes them indispensable in automated environments such as warehouses, factories, and logistics centres.
When combined with ifm controllers, these encoders significantly reduce programming effort with Codesys. The default secure communication between the encoder and controller not only simplifies installation but also enhances system reliability and performance.
