Laser Components’ series of intensity and phase modulators are designed to operate at specific wavelengths of 850nm, 1310nm and 1550nm. These components are said to offer a low insertion loss with high extinction ratio and are available with various modulation bandwidths, from low frequency to 20GHz and beyond.
The X-cut design of these Mach-Zehnder modulators ensures they have high stability in a wide range of operational conditions, as well as a zero-chirp performance. Thanks to the lower driving voltage and low S11, Laser Components says higher modulation efficiencies can be reached.
Due to their low Vπ, insertion loss and the fact that they are highly stable, these modulators are said to be suitable for quantum optics, fibre sensors, interferometric based sensors and frequency shifting. The high power handling for these components is also beneficial.
